本期金融行业同行小聚,我们邀请到三位投资、金融科技和税收政策的大咖为我们分享关于财富管理方面的政策、经验和看法。本次小聚将会聚焦中国的数字化、金融科技、不动产等方面的政策,风险投资方面的经验,以及在财富创造过程中如何节约税收成本,其中涉及几个主要发达国家或地区的税收政策动向。

继上一次11月份第一期活动后,很多同学已经踊跃的加入我们,并且提供了很多关于活动的宝贵建议和想法。我们会一如既往在线上和线下收集大家的感兴趣的话题,也会把大家拉入活动群组继续讨论。

本次的波士顿金融行业同行小聚由波士顿清华校友会,北京大学新英格兰校友会和哈佛商学院大中华俱乐部(Greater China Club)共同举办,旨在为大波士顿地区的同行们提供一个自由交流的长期平台。不同于常见的讲座形式,我们定期举办不同主题的互动交流会,交流内容由参会者共同商议决定。交流会结束更有欢乐的聚餐活动帮助大家联络感情。还犹豫什么,快来加入我们吧


主讲人

魏晨阳 Chenyang (Jason) Wei

Associate Dean, Tsinghua Institute of FinTech Research

Dr. Wei is the Associate Dean of the Tsinghua Institute of FinTech Research. At Tsinghua PBC School of Finance (PBCSF), he serves as Director of the China Insurance and Pension Research Center, and Secretary General of Tsinghua PBCSF Global Forum of Real Estate Finance. His research and teaching cover Fintech, insurance and pension, real estate finance and digitization in these sectors. He is also responsible for PBCSF’s global partnership initiatives, including policy/industry research collaboration, oversea executive training development, and international conference collaboration.

He is the former General Manager of the New York Center and Chief U.S. Economist of Zenity Holdings, a global industrial investment group headquartered in China. Prior to Zenity, he was Head of Credit Research at American International Group (AIG), reporting to AIG’s Chief Credit Officer with research covering a total AUM of $300bn in AIG Investments. Before AIG, he was Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and earlier Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is also a Research Fellow at Wharton Financial Institutions Center. He has published in top-tier finance/policy journals in the US and in China as well, including Review of Financial Studies, Economic Policy Review, Tsinghua Financial Review, and International Financial Review.

He is also the former Chairman of Board of The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA), the largest global association of Chinese finance professionals with 6000+ members worldwide. He also served as President of TCFA from 2014 to 2015.

Dr. Wei holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University, a M.S. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. (Finance) from the Tsinghua School of Economics and Management.

廖明 Ming Liao

Founding & Managing Partner, Prospect Avenue Capital

Before establishing Prospect Avenue Capital (PAC), Ming accumulated 13 years of investment banking and private equity experience, including working with UBS (Chief Representative of Beijing Office), Morgan Stanley (IBD and Firm Management Department), and the Carlyle Group. Ming has extensive experience with China’s regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and sovereign wealth funds.

Ming has spoken with more than 1,200 institutional investors in 2022 on China’s regulation and policy- making via webinars organized by bulge bracket investment banks, including JPMorgan, Credit Suisse, and Citibank. Hailed as the investor most knowledgeable on China’s governance, policymaking, and regulatory regimes, Ming was selected by Preqin as the only China fund manager to author seven consecutive features, including the Inaugural Report on China’s PE/VC market in 2019 and multiple flagship Global PE/VC Reports.

In 2021, Ming’s insights on China’s capital markets and regulation were quoted over 20 times by international finance media including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, CNBC, and Reuters. His recent editorials “Is Hong Kong ready if ADRs leave New York” and “Hong Kong, Hong Kong” both triggered a widespread discussion on China’s financial markets around the globe. He is the only Chinese national to contribute to the Power of Ideas (POI) initiative for the Milken Institute’s 2022 Global Conference.

As a columnist, Ming currently writes for Caixin Global and The Information.

Ming obtained his BA in Economics from Renmin University in Beijing and MPA from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs (“PSIA”). Before Princeton, Ming had served as a foreign service officer at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for three years.

赵炜 Winona Zhao

Winona Zhao is an International Director of Ernst & Young Tax Services Limited in Hong Kong. Within EY Global Desk Network, Winona focuses on International & US Private Client Tax Services. Under the account-centric strategy, Winona leads EY service teams to provide holistic strategic and execution support to private companies and high-net-worth individuals in their cross-border M&A transactions or daily operations.

Winona has substantial experience in providing U.S. and cross-border tax planning, tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax controversy services for both owners and businesses in private equity funds, Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), venture capital, and portfolio companies in energy, real estate, life science, technology, media, and manufacturing sectors. 

Winona leads large cross-border projects with complexity, covering multiple aspects such as tax structuring and planning, due diligence, asset valuation, application for tax incentives and cash grants for foreign direct investments in the U.S. Under Winona’s leadership, EY’s multiple service line professionals assist clients to obtain the best resolutions involving multi-million US dollars tax controversies. Winona is dedicated to bringing innovative ideas to assist transformation of tax operation for companies she serves.

Winona authored the first comprehensive Tax Guide for Investments in the U.S.A., in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The book is soon to be published by China Taxation Publishing House 中国税务出版社 (an agency under the State Taxation Administration 国家税务总局).

Winona is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Massachusetts, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

谭炜杰 Vincent Tan

Vincent Tan is a 2nd year MBA student at Harvard Business School. Before HBS he worked in a $10bn+ macro hedge fund in London, as a currency analyst and then a multi-assets portfolio manager. He also served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Peking University Finance Alumni Association in London. He got his two bachelor’s degrees from Peking University, and two master’s degrees from Tsinghua University Schwarzman College and the University of Oxford.

He is the first cohort of Schwarzman Scholars, and was selected as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum. He is currently the Vice President of Harvard Business School Greater China Club.
